Deluxe 4U Steel
This is a steel-covered version of the Deluxe 4U Aluminum. Everything is the same except the top cover, bottom cover and rear cover are all made of steel, painted black in an anti-scratch finish.
Steel and aluminium have different electrical and physical properties. If you aren't sure if aluminum or steel is right for you, you might start here - Aluminum Vs Steel Chassis.
Nice chassis. Amazingly fast delivery. Assembly would be easier if you got some guidance beyond the exploded view. When you go to assemble the base plate with the power supply and loaded heat sinks it needs to be done in a certain sequence. And you have to jiggle panels to get all the screw holes to line up. Easy enough, but be advised. Maybe don't use the sheet metal screws (ugh!) to secure the top and bottom panels. There are holes drilled in the heat sink rails. I ran a No. 6 tap in, and used hex head black cap screws. The UMS drilled heat sinks made the project easy. I could never have drilled and tapped it so correctly. Get the handles ( I ordered them afterwards). The loaded box is somewhat heavy, and the heat sinks are a bit sharp. I will buy other boxes from these guys.
While it is not as easy to assemble as the aluminium version due to the 90 degree flange on the ends of the top and bottom covers, the steel version of the Deluxe 4U is a great way cut costs to put more funds into other components. Very happy with this chassis and all of my dealings with Modushop.
