The Nelson Pass H2 Harmonic Generator, Version 2 is a versatile project. It can be used as the basis for a pre-amplifier and/or as a wonderful tool to adjust the 2nd Harmonic distortion of a system to taste.

Beautiful sound, beautiful in its simplicity. Mr. Pass has taken all the guesswork out of selecting the jfets. Ridiculously low price, easy build, with stunning results. Dead silent. Rich, natural sound. Will probably end up building one or two more.
Simple device that works great. It was a quick and fun to assemble. It really enhances the overall sound quality.
I ended up building three of the kits, one as a stereo version, using RCA's with unity gain, so it could be used inline from a preamp to an amplifier. The other two kits, I built a Balanced version, one kit for each channel, once again with unity gain so it could be used inline from my Balance BA2018 preamp to my ALEPH J amplifier. All of these projects were built using parts and enclosures from the DIY audiostore.
This platform is a beast! Wonderful levels of even and odd harmonics with about a 12dB range of effective saturation. I’ve tailored my units for line-level sources and even customized it to work with a Baxendall EQ circuit follower. Very flexible and affordable…
