Burson Audio V5i Hybrid Dual Opamp
That is the deal with the Whammy headphone amp~ Whatever op amp you feed it, it will tell. Whereas my experience with the 2604 op amp was good but laid back, the Burson V5i was more upfront if I had to put it all into one word. Now, depending on the headphones that you use with the Whammy, that may be just what you are looking for. That proved to be the case for me when using the Hi-Fi Man 400se phones that I have. Then when using the Beyer Dynamic headphones that I find to be an upfront sound to begin with, well, those headphones are used with a more laid-back headphone that I own, which is the SPL Phonitor. This may not be the experience of others, but that is what I found and have a choice of how I want to listen to different recordings.
